The Arc of Montgomery County helps individuals and families maximize and maintain living skills and promotes community independence by incorporating input from family, friends, agency staff, employers and others who are important in the lives of program participants. Service options from the Family and Community Resources Dvision include:

Community Supported Living Arrangements (CSLA) – Individualized support in the homes of individuals who live with their families or in their own home. The supports are designed to maximize and maintain living skills while promoting community inclusion. Staff meet with the program participant regularly, based on the person’s needs.The types of service are customized to the individual’s need and may include:

  • Community Connections (links to community resources)
  • Independent Living (personal/health care, cooking, shopping, etc.)
  • Financial (budgeting, banking)
  • Social/Recreational (leisure, entertainment, religious, cultural activities)
  • Medical
  • School/ Employment
  • Transportation

Low Intensity Support Services (LISS)- The Arc is a Low Intensity Support Services provider. This is a statewide program funded through the Developmental Disability Administration (DDA). These funds are flexible, dynamic and adaptable to the needs of the individual. LISS are also designed to make use of community resources, building on the individuals existing support network, while providing a short-term solution for a problem. LISS are preventive in nature, creative, flexible, responsive, and time limited to assist children and adults with developmental disabilities to improve their quality of life, remain in their own homes, increase or maintain independence, and participate in their communities. Respite Services- Respite care affords family members the opportunity to enjoy a period of restorative relief and rest from their caregiving duties. This period can be an hour, a day, a weekend, or even longer. Respite services are offered in the spirit of the extended family and are an important part of an overall system families need to keep loved ones at home. Respite is vital to emotional and physical well-being.
