One in ten Montgomery County households includes a child or adult with a developmental disability. Someone you know—a neighbor, an employee, a classmate, maybe even you yourself—struggles on a daily basis with the realities of autism, Down syndrome, or any of dozens of other intellectual and developmental disabilities. Those struggles are real. They’re hard and they last a lifetime. But thousands of strong individuals and families are overcoming those challenges with help from The Arc of Montgomery County.
The Arc of Montgomery County is committed to building a world where people with developmental disabilities are appreciated and celebrated for their gifts and talents rather than devalued or ignored because of their “differentness.” Your charitable contribution—cash, real estate, a bequest, a grant, a corporate sponsorship, a remembrance of a loved one, a gift store purchase, a special event ticket, shopping online, a workplace campaign designation—will bring us another step closer to our goal.
We’re already helping meet the needs of more than 2,500 Montgomery County residents and their families, but there are thousands more on the waiting list—not a figurative waiting list, but an actual register of families who desperately need support services but whose turn has not come. For some services, those families can expect to wait nearly 20 years.
Your support is critical now more than ever. The community’s quality of life—today and tomorrow—depends on it!
